THIS WEEKEND 3 DECEMBER

03.12.2005

Samoa 28, Argentina 12 in Buenos Aires

Samoa won by 16 points. I predicted Argentina by 7

Only a handful of Argentina players who toured played against South Africa and who toured Europe remain in the Argentina team to play Manu Samoa. Most of the professional players have returned to their European clubs. The Argentina team is weakened. The Samoan side has the advantage of a number of games together. The result should be close.

Switzerland 8, Denmark 7 in Avusy (FIRA-AER Div. 3A)

Switzerland won by 1 point. I predicted Denmark by 7

Switzerland’s only match so far was a surprise 6-42 loss to Latvia away last weekend. They were disappointing in last season’s World Cup qualifying round. After pushing Poland close 15-20, they suffered a shock 8-17 loss to Malta at home, an easy win over Bulgaria but an away draw with Serbia-Montenegro. The draw effectively eliminated them from the World Cup.

Denmark were also eliminated from the World Cup last season but only after a grand struggle with Malta in the Round 2 play offs. After winning by 9 points at home they lost by 10 points away, Malta scoring in the last minute of play. Denmark has played two games so far this Northern season. They lost to British Army Germany 12-30 in October and then 14-16 to Sweden in early November.
