THE GAME OF RUGBY IS RAPIDLY EXPANDING WORLD WIDE. THIS WEB SITE'S MAIN FUNCTION IS THE RESEARCHING, COLLECTING, COLLATING, RECORDING AND UPDATING OF INTERNATIONAL RUGBY RESULTS AND RECORDS

FEBRUARY 2007

Web sites I recommend this month

http://www.russianrugby.ru/

This Russian rugby site has a translation link for English. The translation is very literal so you will need to read between the lines. This is not the official site but the official site does not appear to have a translation function.

http://statistics.scrum.com/rugby_stats_01.asp

I use this excellent database as the basis for my international team data (ages and tests played-not available on the site). It is very slow but well worth having patience. It is not totally without fault but I use it to compare with the national unions player profiles that can be incorrect (don’t even bother with the Scotland RFU sites player profiles-hopelessly out of date!)-Unfortunately down at the moment

http://2rugby.com/

I haven’t come across this site before. It contains plenty of data, stats and news on world rugby. Looks to be covering the game for the top 10 nations. This site runs a portal for links to news.

Ireland 43, England 13 at Croke Park, Dublin (6 Nations Int. Championship)

Ireland won by 30 points. I predicted Ireland by 8

England have crashed and burned yet again. What a wonderful occasion for Irish rugby. A win at Croke Park against the old Foe. This will be a match that will be talked about forever and will go down in Irish rugby lore.

Algeria will stride out onto turf in Tunis to play their first international rugby test match. Although my team lists is unofficial at this stage it looks like Tunisia is taking this match seriously.

This is not an experimental team Tunisia is putting on the field against the fledgling Algerians. Only one player has not played for Tunisia this year.

The Algerians look to be all France-based players whereas a few Tunisians are home-based. This will be an interesting contest!!

The Tunisia team list comes from ‘Quentin’ from FIRA-AER forum. He tells it came from a French rugby forum.

The big surprise is the intended visit of the ‘Classic All Blacks’ to play ‘tests’ in Japan. The ‘Classic All Blacks’ is made up of ex-All Blacks who play various charity and promotion matches both in New Zealand and overseas. To my knowledge this is the first time they are to play a national rugby team.
