Ivory Coast 17, Cameroun 10 in Abidjan (CAR Division 1, Pool A (North)
Ivory Coast won by 7 points. I predicted Ivory Coast by 15
Another good result for Cameroun showing the rugby world they are not out of their league in this competition as the media (includung me) thought they would be.

Argentina 147, Venzuela 7 at Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago (South America Championship, Division A)-HT 69-7
Argentina won by 140 points. I predicted Argentina by 160.
'So no records broken and Los Venezolanos even managed a first half try! After conceding 2 tries in the first 3 minutes they must have feared the worst but stuck at it. Argentina scored 23 tries and led 'only' 69 - 7 at halftime.' Klitch
Argentina played their second string side. Argentina rarely gave up possession. Venzuela's try came from a lineout win and a rolling maul prompting a long applause from the crowd. Probably the highlight of the tournament for the newcomers.

Uruguay 20, Chile 13 at Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago (Sth America Championship, Division A)
Uruguay won by 7 points. I predicted Chile by 7.
Uruguay broke their Santiago hoodoo by defeating the home side 20-13 to take second place in the South America Championship. 2000 spectators arrived to see Chile take second place in this tournament but it was not to be. Uruguay took their opportunitities but Chile were 'lacking ideas in the attack... weak in defense and it did not... finish their moves'. Onetto appeared to have an off day with his goal kicking, missing six shots at goal. Uruguay led 13-3 at halftime and held on to win. Chile made many errors and were disappointed with their performance.

Tanzania 57, Burundi 3 in Arusha (Friendly)-Tanzania's first rugby test in more than 30 years!-HT 26-3
Tanzania won by 54 points. I predicted Burundi by 25
How wrong can you get! The Tanzanian's obviously saw my prediction and decided to prove me wrong, which they did in a big way. The Tanzanians are very strong and could well give Uganda or Kenya a good run for the money. This game is the first in a Tri-Nations series which also involves Rwanda. These three rugby nations have just been admitted to the IRB as associate members, this tournament being a way of developing quickly the game in this area. Next Games are Burundi v Rwanda(Bujumbura) and Rwanda V Tanzania(Kigali) with dates to be advised by CAR.
